Reed Switch Device Market Trends, Share by Manufacturers 2021

Global reed switch device market is anticipated to rise at a higher CAGR during the forecast period. Technically, a reed switch comprises two ferromagnetic blades hermetically encapsulated in the glass capsule with a small gap between them and interacts with each other under the presence of a suitable magnetic field. The blades are plated and sputtered on the contact area with a very hard metal particularly Rhodium or Ruthenium. These hard metals enable good potential of long life time if the contact is not switched with any loads.

Nitrogen or some inert gas specifically comprises in the capsule to enhance their ability to switch a standoff high voltage to possess an internal vacuum. The reed blades then act as magnetic flux conductors on exposing to an external magnetic field from either a permanent magnet or an electromagnetic coil. Polarity poles opposite in nature are created and the contacts close when the magnetic force exceeds spring force of the reed blades. Since the external magnetic field is minimized the force between the reeds becomes less than the restoring force of the reed blades and the contacts open.

Characteristically, most reed switches possess round-shape bells since they are cut from a tube and the ends of which are sealed after installing contact-points. Glass for tubes should be fusible with softening temperatures and coefficients of linear expansion must be similar to that of the material of contact-elements. Normal or standard reed switches come in a diameter of 5mm and about 50mm in length. The type of magnetic system is neutral and polarized. Also, the type of switching electric circuit is closing or normally open namely A-type, normally closed namely B-type and changeover namely C-type.

Commercially, the reed switch device gains a positive traction because of rising demand from semiconductor and chipset industry. The key driving factors responsible for the growth of reed switch market includes rising demand from chip industry to produce high speed board circuits. Additionally, developing infrastructure and rising trend of adapting to miniature circuits is propelling the market growth. However, the lack of skilled personnel is likely to impede the market growth for the forecast period. On the basis of product, the reed switch device market is segmented into super ultra-miniature, ultra-miniature and large-scale. On the basis of application, the reed switch device market is segmented into reed relays and magnetic sensors.

On the basis of geographic segmentation, the reed switch device market spans North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Middle-East & Africa. APAC regions are anticipated to grow at a higher CAGR during the forecast period owing to presence of small, medium and large players in the region. North America is anticipated to grow at a higher CAGR during the forecast period owing to technological innovations in miniature circuits.

Middle-Eastern and African regions are anticipated to grow at a moderate CAGR owing to rise in import business for miniature circuits and chipset. The key players in the reed switch device OKI, RMCIP, Littlefuse, Standex-Meder, Nippon Aleph, HIS Sensing, Coto, PIT-RADWAR, PIC, STG, Harbin Electric Group, and Zheijang Xurui.
